What’s happening in Term 1?
It is a busy start to the year in sport here at Bayswater North in 2018. Here are some of the highlights of what will be a fast paced and fun filled term 1.
Our grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 students will complete their annual Swimming Program at Kilsyth Centenary Pool Students will learn important survival skills as well as continuing to work on their freestyle, backstroke and breast stroke techniques. In addition to this some of our more gifted young swimmers will head to Tintern Grammar to compete in the Ringwood District Swimming Carnival.
Our grade 5 and 6 students will take part in our Summer Interschool Sports Program. Each Friday our students will play against a different school from within our district. With students competing in sports like Basketball, T20 Cricket, Tee-Ball, Volleyball, Tennis and Lacrosse there will be lots of fun and excitement for any parents wishing to come and have a look from 9.00am each Friday of term 1.
Grades 1 and 2 PE…
Our junior students are busy in class, currently completing modified units on athletics. Students will take part in events such as long jump, shot put, 100m sprint and hurdles, gaining valuable skills and experience that will put them in good stead for when they attempt more advanced athletic units as they enter the senior years of primary school.
Our new Preppies…
Our new Prep students will be learning lots of new and exciting skills in their first term of sport here at Bayswater North. Already they have shown what keen and enthusiastic people they are and have taken to their time in PE like ducks to water. I look forward to seeing them continue to grow and develop as the year continues.
Our softball teams were awesome today at the Division Finals. The girls won their game against Croydon Hills 18 to 3. The boys won against Park Orchards 23 to 3 and then the final in a ‘nail biter’ 9 to 7 against Croydon Hills. A big thanks to all the parents who showed up to support our students. Regional finals will be played next Thursday.
Ringwood Athletics Carnivals
Well done to all of our grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 students who have represented the school at various Ringwood Athletics Carnivals over the last two weeks. Thankyou also to the teachers, parents and helpers who gave their time to make sure that the kids had a really fun and worthwhile sporting experience. Good luck also to our representatives who have made it through to the Maroondah Division Finals to be held later in the term.
Grade 5/6 Tee Ball Finals
Congratulations to our 5/6 Girls Tee-Ball team who managed to make it all the way through to the grand final of the Eastern Metropolitan Region Championships last Monday the 28th of August. Thank you to all the parents, teachers and supporters who helped out on the day and in the lead up to the event and well done to Ms Gray and her girls on such a successful season!!
Softball Victoria Clinics
Our Grade 3 and 4 students recently had the chance to participate in some softball clinics held by Mel from Softball Victoria. Our students learned a lot all whilst having a great time. As part of the program we also received some great new equipment which will be used by our highly successful senior Tee-Ball and Softball teams.
2017 District Cross Country
Congratulations to all of our grade 3-6 students who participated in the Ringwood District Cross Country Carnival. We managed to finish in second place out of ten competing schools which was a wonderful reward for our students who put in such great effort in the lead up to the event. Thanks to all of those who helped out and again congratulations to our wonderful team!
